Try these Super Bowl Party ideas, including themes, recipes, and decorations!
Over the years, I have written a lot about how to entertain guests during sporting events. Whether you’re watching the Super Bowl or a College Bowl game, when you’re serving up food for a crowd, there’s a lot to think about! Since Richard is the sports fan, I always end up on the party-planning end of things (primarily just snack-planning, but sometimes a full party set-up is in order), so I have lots of tips and tricks to offer you when you’re planning a Super Bowl Party!
CHOOSE YOUR SUPER BOWL PARTY LOCATION
The first step in planning a Super Bowl Party is selecting your location. Here are a few ideas I have:
- Tailgating party in the stadium parking lot
- Homegating party in your backyard
- Indoor party in a living room or kitchen
Below, I’ll share some ideas for themes and recipes. You definitely have to take both of those into consider when planning your Super Bowl party. Also think about the following:
- What’s the weather like where I live? Can I entertain outdoors?
- How much space do I have indoors for guests to watch the game/mingle?
- Am I able to tailgate in the parking lot {if the game is near your home}?
PICK A SUPER BOWL PARTY THEME
Obviously the main theme is football, but I always select a secondary theme. This is usually based off of the types of food I choose to serve. Of course, you can create a smorgasbord with all sorts of dishes or do a potluck-style game day spread, but I usually like to focus the recipes around a particular theme. Here are a few ideas:
- Hot Dog Bar Super Bowl Party
- Waffle Bar Super Bowl Party
- Sushi Bar Super Bowl Party
- Football “Sundae” Party
- Chicken Wings Super Bowl Party
- Chips and Dips Super Bowl Party
There are so many fun ways to decorate for a Super Bowl Party. You can keep it simple with some themed toothpicks, plastic cups, and paper plates. You can also get more creative with themed banners, balloons representing your favorite teams’ colors, posters, pom-poms, paper lanterns, and other fun decorations.
