Enjoy the Big Game with a Chips and Dips Football Party.

So it’s 2018 – Woohoo! Living near a major university, this is a huge deal. Because whether you watch college football or professional football, football season is coming to an end, and I am surrounded by it all. Best way to celebrate the big games at the end of football season? A football party, of course. More specifically, a Chips and Dips Football Party.

I’m the kind of person who enjoys grazing at a party. I don’t want to eat a heavy meal while celebrating with friends. I want to nosh on all different types of foods throughout the event, so chips and dips make the perfect party spread. You can grab a dish, fill it up with your favorite munchies, and enjoy great conversation and an awesome football event from the comfort of your home. Here’s how you put this party together!

Some parties take all day in the kitchen, planning out exactly what foods you’re going to serve, slaving over an oven or stovetop preparing all your dishes. My advice: KEEP IT SIMPLE. Make one or two recipes, and let your local grocery store help you out with the rest. For this party, I prepared a delicious Creamy Kale Dip. It’s very similar to the cold spinach dips served at parties, but a little bit lighter and with more nutrient-dense kale. Here’s the recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bunch fresh kale
  • 8 ounces low-fat Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 packet dried vegetable soup mix
  • 3 ounces water chestnuts

Directions:

Begin by selecting your kale. I prefer this variety. You may see it called Dino kale, Tuscan kale, or Lacinato kale at your grocery store. Wash each leaf, cut it away from the tough stalky stem, and finely chop it. Place the chopped kale in a boiling pot of water for about 5 minutes and drain all the water completely. I actually squeeze it out so it doesn’t create a liquid-y dip.

In a large bowl, combine the kale, Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, and dried vegetable soup mix. Chop up the water chestnuts and fold those into your dip as well. It is now ready to serve at your football party! How easy was that?

I also set out a spicy salsa, French onion dip, and my homemade guacamole. But you cannot forget the most important part: the dippers! I gathered my family’s favorite chips for this chips and dips football party. That includes: Kettle Brand® Potato Chips, Late July® Snacks, and Snack Factory® Pretzel Crips®. I also included some Pop Secret® popcorn for my friends who would prefer to much on that.

I provided different fun paper dishes and containers for friends to help themselves to their favorite chip and dip combinations, like tortilla chips and salsa, pretzel crisps and kale dip, or potato chips and French onion dip. Because nobody should be left out of the party fun, be sure to include all different flavors your guests will just love! This is a day for enjoying not just the big game, but a tasty spread of party food.

Don’t forget to set out napkins {in a fun black and white stripe to represent the referees, of course} and some plasticware. I chose these glittery forks and spoons because your team should always go for the gold, right? And the little football stickers just add the perfect touch to the party’s theme. Make sure you serve up some beverages, too. I made a pitcher of ice water with slices of lime in it – So refreshing!

In less than an hour, you can set up your big game party spread and enjoy the game when you throw a Chips and Dips Football Party. Just head to your grocery store and grab all of your favorite brands to enjoy with family and friends.

What are your favorite foods to enjoy while watching the big game?
