A Southern-Inspired Summer Snack Board is perfect for snacking in your backyard with friends and family!

I cannot believe this is the last week of school for the kids and myself {as a substitute teacher}. That means everything has felt non-stop for the past month, and soon, it’s time to chill out and enjoy the approaching summer. We love to invite families from the kids’ school and our neighbors over to hangout, enjoy snacks together, and spend time in the backyard. When entertaining guests or spending family time outdoors, tasty snacks are a must. And since I love preparing simple food that balances savory and sweet, I put together this Summer Snack Board, inspired by some of my favorite southern flavors.

Summer Snack Board meats

Here’s what I included in my Southern-Inspired Summer Snack Board:

  • a variety of GOOD THiNS gluten-free crackers
  • Manchego cheese
  • Goat Cheese
  • Fresh peaches
  • Fresh nectarines
  • Whole pecans
  • Salami, regular and spicy
  • Local honey

To prepare this snack board, begin by selecting your favorite cheeses and meats. I chose two cheeses, manchego and chèvre. Manchego is a hard Spanish cheese with a mild, nutty flavor. Chèvre is a soft goat cheese that has a tangy bite. I chose two different types of salami, a mild salami and a spicy chorizo. I arranged them somewhat randomly on my wooden cheese board.

Next, I added two ripe, seasonal fruits: peaches and white nectarines. These are so sweet and juicy this time of year. I just sliced them in half and removed the seeds. A little orange blossom honey and Bulk Honey Roasted Pecans pair perfectly with this snack board as well. These southern-inspired ingredients go so well together.

The final touch is something to serve all this deliciousness with, and of course, every great snack board requires some crunch. That’s why I purchased GOOD THiNS in four different varieties: Three Cheese, The Corn One – Sea Salt, Veggie Blend, and The Rice One – Simply Salt. These gluten-free crackers have a great crunch and make the perfect snack on their own or paired with any of the items on my snack board.

I added the Three Cheese and Veggie Blend GOOD THiNS to my snack board {these were my personal favorite}, but I also set out the rice and corn just in case my family wanted to try those as well. GOOD THiNS are made with no artificial colors, flavors, or high fructose corn syrup, making them an awesome option for your guests!
