Kids Halloween Craft Ideas

DIY· Posts

I registered my children for a local art class for children ages 2 – 5. We’ve gone to two classes, and so far, they really like it. We begin with a book each time, followed by 3 themed art projects.

Bryce likes to be at the front of the class to see the story.

readingDuring the first class, we made pirate projects. The first project was what Lydia called a “spy glass” (aka telescope) with a paper towel tube.

I think Bryce got more paint on himself than his telescope. When the paint dried, a piece of clear plastic wrap was placed on the end, and a strip of black paper went around toward the bottom to cover the edge of the plastic.

I’m not quite sure Bryce understood how to put this on properly…

Lydia figured it out, though!Pirate Lydia

The final project that day was free painting. The kids love painting!

The kids made Halloween projects during the next class. The first project was a Halloween picture frame. They began by painting a small paper plate orange.

The last project of the day was painting using Halloween cookie cutters. I may have to do this at home with the kids, too, because they had fun and it’s really easy to set up & clean up.

I’m so glad we signed up for this art class. This is Bryce’s first ‘school’ experience. The variety of activities keeps him engaged, and since both children really enjoy art, it’s fun for all of us! What I also like is that Lydia can follow the directions to complete the craft independently, so it gives me a little time to work with Bryce on following directions, communication skills, and motor skills. I already paid for four classes in November!
