A few months back, I was hanging out with a friend of mine and told her about how I was working late the previous night, so I made myself a delicious, from-scratch dessert: chocolate pudding. She told me she didn’t even know you could make chocolate pudding without the powdered stuff in a box. I explained that it takes about 5 minutes and tastes delicious. Her response? “You need to put that recipe on your blog!” I agreed, but I waited for just the right opportunity. Well, this is it! My challenge was to create a 10-minute s’mores recipe outdoors. These s’mores tartlets can be made on the grill (with a little help from a torch) in 10 minutes with just a few simple ingredients. Preparing this s’mores tart on the grill gives it that campfire feel and flavor. How fun is it to take a delicious dessert outdoors? This would be a great addition to a family cook-out or any other summer get-together.
Ingredients:
- 2 packages Honey Maid Graham Cracker Squares
- 1/2 stick of butter, melted
- 4 Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- Jet-Puffed Mini Marshmallows
Special equipment:
- Outdoor grill
- Mini Tart Pan with Removable Bottoms
- Creme Brulee Torch
Directions:
To begin, gather all of your ingredients. Have I mentioned that s’mores are one of my absolute favorite desserts? Just looking at this image below makes me salivate. And you don’t need a campfire to make s’mores outdoors. The grill works well, too!
To make the crust: Heat up your grill. Begin by smashing 2 packages of Honey Maid Graham Crackers Squares. You can do this inside your house in a food processor or outdoors in a sealed zipper bag. Combine the crumbs with the melted 1/2 stick of butter. Press the mixture into individual small tart pans or a tart pan like this with four openings. The best thing about this pan is that the bottom can be removed, so you don’t have to worry about how you will get your beautiful little tart out of the pan without it breaking apart. Place the pan on the grill over the warmest part and leave it on for about 10 minutes, or until the edges start to brown and the crust feels warm.
To make the pudding: While the pie crusts are grilling, prepare the chocolate pudding filling. I did this on the side burner of my grill so I can hang out with my family in the backyard. In a small saucepan, combine Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars, milk, and cream. Stir until the chocolate melts and a consistent mixture has formed. Add the eggs one at a time and very quickly mix them in so they don’t scramble. Stir, stir, stir (and stir some more) until the mixture thickens and it looks like a chocolate pudding consistency. It doesn’t matter if I am indoors or outdoors, I will always be the messiest cook. Evidence below.
To assemble the tart: My sister always teases me that all of my desserts look like ‘puddin’ pie’. I tend to make lots of variations of chocolate-filled crusts with different toppings. So to make this puddin’ pie (aka S’mores Tartlet), spoon the chocolate pudding mixture into each tartlet shell. Top with marshmallows. You could eat these delicious tartlets as is… but why not give them the full s’mores experience?
Do you have a small torch (like the kind you would use for creme brulee)? If not, I promise you, you need this in your life. Take your torch, and fire up the tops of your s’mores tartlets to add that campfire goodness to this delicious dessert. After all, that is the best part, right? These are great warm and gooey or you can refrigerate them for later on or the next day.

If you’re into a more traditional s’mores recipe, sandwich Hershey’s chocolate and Jet-Puffed marshmallows between two Honey Maid graham crackers, wrap in aluminum foil, and place the packet on the grill for just a few minutes until they are delicious and toasty.

These look super yummy, I think I need to buy a new torch (mine is on the fritz)- I just love that lovely seared look! I bet these can even be made ahead of time too!

You can temper your eggs by. beating them together in a separate bowl, then adding about 1/4 of the milk mixture to it whilebeating it. Then add the tempered egg mixture to the pan and finish cooking the pudding. It helps prevent you from scrambled egg pudding.
