This is a sponsored blog post for Hair Cuttery’s Share a Haircut program. The opinions expressed are honest.
Big things are happening in the Wells household over the next few weeks! My husband is a high school English teacher, so he returned to work this week. Lydia is starting PreK next week. And Lydia and Bryce are celebrating their birthdays in September.
{Deep breaths}
So not only is Lydia turning 5 and beginning PreK, this was also her first real haircut. I always cut her hair and Richard’s hair at home. Lydia is quite shy, but she warmed up to her stylist at Hair Cuttery quickly. She enjoyed getting her hair washed while wearing this totally cute Angry Birds apron.
After getting her hair washed, Lydia’s hair was trimmed and layered. The layering helps to maintain her curl, which is slowly starting to straighten out {sniffle, sniffle}.
Because it was her first haircut, she received this awesome certificate with a lock of her hair taped to it. This went straight into a special box I have with all her keepsakes. What a big girl experience for her!
Richard got his hair cut, too. He’s one of those old-school teachers who still wears a dress shirt and tie to work each day. He likes to maintain that level of professionalism to be a role model to his students. This haircut gave him the right look to be a confident educator as his students return to school next week.
I sorta photo-bombed this ‘after’ shot unintentionally. Since I’ve been cutting his hair for years, I figure it was all kinds of messed up, but the stylist actually said I had been doing a pretty good job {pats self on back}.
Lydia and Richard love each other so much! Their bond grows each day, and getting their hair cut together was definitely a fun experience for Lydia.
Now through August 31st, as part of the Share a Haircut program, each time your child gets a haircut at Hair Cuttery, a haircut will be donated back to an underprivileged child in the communities of Hair Cuttery’s almost 900 locations. In speaking to Lydia’s hair stylist, I learned that they work with children at a local adoption and foster care center.
With a goal of donating up to 125,000 haircut certificates throughout the month of August, Hair Cuttery marks its 15th year helping children in need start off the new school year with a fresh haircut as part of the company’s annual Share-a-Haircut program.
“We are extremely proud to offer the Share-a-Haircut program to children who need it in our local Hair Cuttery communities,” said Dennis Ratner, Founder and CEO of Hair Cuttery. “We want children not only to learn the power of giving but also to go back to school with confidence. Something as simple as a new haircut can help inspire both.”
The Share-a-Haircut program has reached more than 800,000 children to date with haircut certificate donations valued at $12 million. The company hopes to bring that number to 925,000 this year. To find a Hair Cuttery location near you, click here.
