Ready for a fun and delicious baking idea? Here goes! I shopped for M&Ms at my nearby Walmart. The bags came in all different flavors, including plain and peanut. For this recipe, I purchased plain M&Ms, but I bet they would be yummy with peanut M&Ms, too.
I wanted to create a recipe that was both familiar and unique. What I like about blondies is that they are across between chocolate chip cookies & brownies, two of my favorite desserts. These are great as a special treat year-round!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup butter (melted)
- 1 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 t salt
- 1 1/2 t baking powder
- 1/2 t baking soda
- 3/4 cup M&Ms
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a medium bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.In a large bowl, combine melted butter and light brown sugar. Add 2 eggs. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until combined. Stir in M&Ms and chocolate chips.
Pour mixture into a greased 8″ x 8″ pan. (Note added 2/11/15: For thinner blondies, try a 9″ x 13″ pan and reduced the cooking time.)
Bake 30 – 35 minutes, until the top is golden and the blondies feel firm to the touch.
Cool and cut into 9 large blondies or 16 bite-sized blondies. Right now, there is an awesome Baking is Better with M Pinterest Sweepstakes going on for M&M’s. I made these exactly as the recipe says and they were brown on the outside and raw in the middle! Was anything off about the recipe? I noticed that it didn’t have regular sugar listed, which I thought was strange.

Sorry that happened to you 🙁 I’ve made them twice following this recipe and never had any issues. They are moist in the middle, but if you refrigerate them, they get firm. Perhaps I should add that into the directions? Also, if they seem under-done, you may consider cooking them another 5 minutes??
Samantha Vermeulen says
I dropped the temp to 350 after I posted this message and cooked them for 5 more minutes. They finally set, but when I cut I to them, the texture was all wrong and they didn’t taste right. I don’t know what the problem is. It isn’t the baking ingredients because I have been using them all week for my holiday baking. I’m at a loss! I’ve never ruined a baking recipe before. Was it missing white sugar or was that purposely omitted?
Carrie Wells, Ed.D. says
Purposely missing white sugar. I wanted to give them the richer flavor that brown sugar has. I based this recipe off of another one I used (from a different website) that did not have white sugar either. See what happens if you refrigerate them. Sorry 🙁
