I received Filtrete Filters for free as part of a Blog Tour Campaign. The opinions expressed are honest.
I’ve written a lot about Winter in Florida recently because it is so glaringly obvious that our climate and subsequent activities are so different from the rest of the country. Here’s an example: these are actual pictures from my neighbors’ front lawns.
Clearly these pictures were not taken in Wisconsin… or Michigan… or even Georgia. We’re pretty special down here in Fort Lauderdale! Last weekend, I took the kids to Flamingo Road Nursery, a local plant nursery and farmer’s market. This place is pretty cool. I’m certain I have written about it on my blog before. During the Fall and Winter, they plan all types of family-friendly activities. We painted pumpkins in October and made this craft last weekend. I just had to share it with my readers. Whether you live in a tropical area or want to pretend you do… This is just super-fun!
- A coconut still in its husk
- Small branches from a Christmas tree
- Craft paint
- Paintbrushes
- A drill
Directions:
Begin by drilling two holes at the top of the coconut to insert the small tree branches. These will be the antlers for your reindeer.
The cutest part about making Coconut Reindeer at this nursery was the set-up. All of the coconuts were ready for us, waiting in The Elf’s Workshop. I let each child pick one Coconut Reindeer to paint.
Next, give your kids brushes and a whole lot of paint, and let them have fun! Obviously grown-ups can have fun as well. Who wouldn’t want to make this cute craft?
While their Coconut Reineer were drying, we took pictures with Santa. Poor Santa had to sit outside in the 80 degree weather, but he didn’t seem to mind. He asked Bryce what he wanted for Christmas and he said “Presents”. When asked what kind of presents, he said “Just presents.” Then Lydia said “I want the same thing.” Silly kids!
When you live in South Florida, you have to get used to a high of 98 and a low of 82 almost year-round. This means we are always running our air conditioner, which also means you need to invest in decent air filters. I received four different Filtrete filters to try out in my home: Filtrete Odor Reduction, Filtrete Ultra Allergen, Filtrete Ultimate Allergen and Filtrete Micro Allergen. All four filters are great for freeing your air of microscopic particles carried by people and pets The filters are able to attract and capture smoke, smog, mold spores, and pollen from the air passing through the filters.
