These Simple Rainbow Party Ideas are perfect for adults and kids!
Just a week and it’s summertime! This is going to be an insanely busy summer with our big move in just two weeks, registering both kids at a new school, Richard starting a new job, the start of our major home renovations. There’s just so much going on. But I don’t want life to just feel busy. I want to enjoy our time as a family, and my hope is that before the school year begins, my children will make some neighborhood friends. While I don’t want to have to plan any major housewarming party for ourselves {since we know few people in our new area}, I thought these Simple Rainbow Party Ideas may be fun for a playdate. Here are my ideas!
Simple Rainbow Party Ideas: Cupcakes
Let me start with the cupcakes. I purchased a dozen plain vanilla cupcakes. I placed each cupcake inside a plastic wine glass that was filled with a specific color of bright candies. I was able to buy a huge bag of candies, which made this so much easier to do. After the cupcake was in place, I added rainbow sprinkles over the top.
These cupcakes look seriously awesome! They make the perfect cupcake rainbow. The frosting kinda looks like puffy white clouds, right?
Simple Rainbow Party Ideas: Fruit Salad
Next up, you need a healthy snack to balance out our treat above, so I made a rainbow fruit salad. I love how it looks in a trifle dish, so that you can see all of the beautiful colors! Here’s how I made it:
- Red = raspberries & strawberries
- Orange = cantaloupe
- Yellow = pineapple
- Green = grapes
- Blue = blueberries
- Indigo/violet = blackberries
Now the party table is ready for set-up. What’s awesome about Rainbow Party? You can use up all your miscellaneous leftover plasticware and paper straws from all your previous parties. I actually had some paper plates left from my Inside Out party two summers ago!
Simple Rainbow Party Ideas: Party Favors
I kept the party favors simple this time. I purchase these super cool rainbow-striped boxes. Each box can be filled with a little bottle of bubbles, sunglasses, and small toys that are perfect for summer!
Now it’s time to head outdoors for a fun Rainbow Party! Arrange the items on table. I like the contrast of the plain white table and the brightly-colored food items, party favors, straws, paper plates, napkins, and plasticware. If you want a little more color, add a tablecloth or some balloons.
The kids were excited to try these rainbow cupcakes. First you eat the frosting, then the cupcake, and then the colorful candy at the bottom. What child wouldn’t enjoy this summertime treat?!

Thanks for the positive feedback! I bought them at Party City, but it’s been over a year, so I’m not sure if they are still available. Definitely worth it to try check in-store or online!
