Purple Halloween Centerpiece

DIY· Holiday Crafts· Posts

I was challenged to create an awesome fall craft with $25 worth of supplies from Dollar Tree. Challenge accepted! I entered the store without really knowing exactly what to create {since I did not know what would be available} so I began by simply wandering around, looking for inspiration. I really liked all of the fall scarecrow craft items, so I began there. I grabbed some small scarecrows on sticks and found fake flowers to complement the colors in the scarecrows {yellow, orange, and red}. I also located a tin to use as the base for a centerpiece, floral craft foam, and a little owl. I was ready to build a traditional fall centerpiece… until I saw a bunch or two of purple flowers and thought to myself “anyone could create a nice traditional fall centerpiece… but I want to get creative!” So I put all of the yellows, oranges, and reds down and grabbed ALL the purple flowers. I found a purple sparkly owl, a few glittery bats, and purple/black striped ribbon. It’s not fall… It’s not Halloween… It’s my Purple FALLoween Centerpiece!

Materials:

  • Large container for the base
  • Floral craft foam
  • Variety of fake flowers in all different shades of purple
  • Green moss
  • Purple ribbon
  • Scary critters – spiders, bats, owls

Directions:

This is an easy craft, so your kids can be your assistants. Begin by placing the floral craft foam inside your container. I found a piece that is a very similar size to the container itself. I intentionally chose a non-Halloween themed container, but you can easily build this flower centerpiece inside a pumpkin trick-or-treat bucket. Next, I covered the floral foam in green moss.

I trimmed the flower stems to different heights and separated out some of the flowers. By doing this, I could really create a rounded, full floral centerpiece. I tried to mix up the colors. As you can see, some were a grey-purple, some a light purple, some dark red and bold magenta. I just love the variety of flowers available at Dollar Tree.

I purchased different fun critters and purple and black striped ribbon to add to the centerpiece. This truly captures the FALLoween feel of this decor. And seriously, how cute are these spider bats made of feathers?

After tying a big striped bow, adding a black raven, and placing this cute sparkly owl with glowing eyes next to it, my Purple Falloween Centerpiece is complete! It’s a little fall, a little Halloween, and super bright and colorful! Spooky, whimsical, and charming all in one. Best part about it? It only cost $25 to make!

To create the centerpiece above and more fun fall and Halloween crafts, go to DollarTree.com or your local Dollar Tree store today! They have such a wide variety of traditional fall and spooky Halloween costume pieces, decorations, toys, and more. Note: Halloween products will be removed from dollartree.com on September 26th, but will be available in stores after that.

How do you decorate your home for fall and Halloween?
