This Printable School Bus Game is a fun turn-taking game for kids!

As a special educator previously and a mother now, I am always looking for new ways to use toys! One way to do that is to create a whole new game using toys that your child usually only plays with one or two ways. I purchased this PLAYMOBIL School Bus at Walmart and designed a Printable School Bus Preschool Game that takes just minutes to print off, glue to a file folder, and play with your children or students. This game does not require any reading, so children as young as four can participate. Read how to make this folder game below! Check out these other fun PLAYMOBIL ideas.

Hover over the image below to start shopping for your PLAYMOBIL toy!

Printable School Bus Preschool Game Materials:

  • PLAYMOBIL School Bus
  • Printer with color ink
  • 4 sheets of card stock
  • 1 file folder
  • 1 small envelope
  • Printable School Bus Game Cover
  • Printable School Bus Game Cards
  • Printable School Bus Game Board 1
  • Printable School Bus Game Board 2

Printable School Bus Preschool Game Directions:

Begin by printing all four printables on card stock in full color. I suggest printing 2 – 3 copies of the Cards printable so that you don’t have to keep re-using the same cards. Cut the cards and set them aside. Glue the Cover to the front of the folder and Boards 1 and 2 inside the folder. You can even glue an envelope to the back of the folder to store the cards when you aren’t playing.

When the glue dries, your game is ready to play! Here’s how you play:

1. Each player selects a PLAYMOBIL character.

2. Place the stoplight cards face down. The youngest player draws a card.

  • If it’s a green card, the player will move 2 spaces.
  • If it’s a yellow card, the player will move 1 space.
  • If it’s a red card, the player will not move.

3. Play goes clockwise and continues until all players have reached the finish line {AKA the bus stop}. Even though players take individual turns, the game is played as a team, because everyone has to be at the bus stop in order to get on the bus together. Then the bus will zoom off to school, so the play can continue beyond this Printable School Bus Game, as children use their imaginations to enjoy a pretend day of school with their toys!

This game teaches children team work, turn-taking skills, good sportsmanship, and understanding basic instructions. It is the perfect way for children to use their PLAYMOBIL toys in new, exciting ways. What I love about PLAYMOBIL toys is that they are made for a variety of play methods. They really capture all of the intricate details, bringing make-believe to life for children. The bus doors open, the lights flash, the stop sign on the bus moves, the characters all have unique clothing, hair, skin tones, and removable backpacks, and the moveable limbs allow them to move in a realistic fashion. Head to Walmart where you can find a variety of PLAYMOBIL products in the toy section.

Imaginative play begins in infancy, but the skills learned through using toys in creative ways can last a lifetime! What toys do your children love?
