This Pre-workout Parfait Recipe is easy to prepare and take with you on the way to the gym!
Pretty much every new year, I make the same resolution —> Eat better breakfasts! I’m usually good for a bit, but then I fall back into my old behaviors. Grab three chocolates and go, eat just a granola bar, coffee as breakfast, etc. I blame it on how busy I am, but really, there are plenty of healthy breakfast recipes that can be prepared in just a few minutes. Hard boiled eggs can be made the night before, toast with cream cheese and salmon takes just minutes, and this pre-workout parfait recipe is definitely a quick recipe to prepare!
Pre-workout Parfait Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Grape-Nuts Trail Mix Crunch
- 1 cup Greek vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup Fresh raspberries
- 1/4 cup Sliced almonds
Pre-workout Parfait Directions:
I began by gathering my ingredients. This recipe was actually inspired by a recipe I prepared for myself when I was trying to get back in shape after giving birth to Lydia {over 8 years ago}. A friend purchased me a healthy eating cookbook, and there was a breakfast recipe that included yogurt, almonds, and raspberries. It’s a combination I really enjoy, so I figured it’d be even more delicious with the addition of NEW Grape-Nuts Trail Mix Crunch. Grape Nuts can help fuel your day, and this particular cereal combines vanilla flavored granola, Grape Nuts, dried cranberries, and puffed barley.
To make this an easy on-the-go breakfast that can be prepared in advance and thrown into a lunch bag or small cooler, I used a mason jar. At the bottom, I added my favorite vanilla Greek yogurt. What I like about Greek yogurt is that it’s super creamy and contains considerably more protein than regular yogurt. That’s in part what makes this a great pre-workout parfait recipe.
Next, I added a layer of Grape-Nuts Trail Mix Crunch, followed by sliced almonds and raspberries. I repeated the process twice to create a total of eight layers in this delicious pre-workout parfait recipe. If you don’t like raspberries or they are not in season, you can always substitute the raspberries for blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries. You can even combine all four to make a mixed berry parfait.
After you have layered your vanilla Greek yogurt, Grape-Nuts Trail Mix Crunch, fresh raspberries, and sliced almonds to create this pre-workout parfait, just add the lid, and it’s ready to go! You can prepare it the night before and store it in your refrigerator for breakfast the next day or make it that morning and go!
This is great to drop in my purse and take with me when I drop the kids off at school and head to the gym. I’m trying to go 3 to 4 days a week now, and try a variety of exercises including weightlifting, cardio, and yoga/stretching. When you’re burning that many calories at once, it’s definitely important to eat a good breakfast first, like this Pre-workout parfait recipe.
Head to Walmart where you can find all of the ingredients for this parfait, including the Grape-Nuts Trail Mix Crunch. Just head down the cereal aisle. I found it toward the top shelf. Also, if you don’t have any, don’t forget to grab a case of mason jars, too. They are also available at Walmart. Save on your purchase of Grape Nuts with this Ibotta offer.
