Here are five healthy habits to start this year to support a healthy mind and body.

I hope all of my readers have gotten off to a wonderful new year! Now that it’s February, it’s time to check in with our new year’s resolutions. I tried to keep mine pretty simple. I focused on healthy habits that will help my body, both physically and mentally. It’s so important to remember to take care of ourselves, mind and body. As busy spouses, parents, employees, and all the other roles we play, we often forget to stop for a moment and focus on what we can do to put ourselves first. Check out my five healthy habits to start this year, including Sundown® Naturals.

Healthy Habits: Discover Your Favorite Exercise

I’ve been working out regularly for many years, and what I’ve learned is most important is to find the exercise that you enjoy the most. If you find pleasure in what you are doing, you’re more motivated to set aside the time to do it. For me, I love doing yoga. It helps me clear my mind, focus on my taking care of my body, and it always makes me feel energized afterwards.

Healthy Habits: Get Enough Sleep

Now this is one I am not so good at: getting enough sleep! Some days, I stay up too late binge-watching my favorite shows; other days, I am wide awake and restless by 5 am. I also tend to wake up at least half a dozen times during the night. To help with sleep for those occasional sleepless nights, Sundown® Naturals makes Melatonin—available at Publix. Melatonin supports sound and quality sleep,* and Sundown® Naturals are free of genetically modified ingredients^, gluten, wheat, dairy, lactose, and artificial flavors.◊ One tablet at bedtime is an easy way to support a good night’s rest, so you can wake up feeling refreshed!* Find a Publix location near you. Healthy Habits: Eat a Balanced Breakfast

This is one that I’m definitely working on still! We are community supported agriculture (CSA) members. Every other week, we pick up a share of locally-grown, seasonally-available produce. It definitely helps me to prepare healthy breakfasts. Toasts are always fun to make, so I find easy ways to prepare breakfasts with fresh vegetables, fruits, eggs, and dairy. They do say breakfast is the most important meal because it fuels you for the rest of the day! Try taking a Sundown® Naturals Vitamin D3 to supplement your breakfast, check these products for more options. It is an essential nutrient that works with Calcium to maintain strong bones and teeth*. This is the form of Vitamin D produced in the body from sunlight, so it’s especially important to take during the winter months when you aren’t outdoors as much to help with cellular function.

Healthy Habits: Enjoy the Outdoors

Regardless of the time of year, it feels so good to get outdoors! Whether it’s a walk through the woods, a bike ride to your favorite local restaurant, even a stroll through a farmer’s market, it’s great to get a breath of fresh air. Enjoy great conversation and time spent with loved ones as you enjoy the outdoors. It’s a perfect way to work on your body physically and emotionally.

Healthy Habits: Keep a Detailed Schedule

Being organized is definitely key to good mental health. When I feel disorganized, I am anxious, stressed out, and fearful of missing an important event. I have a planner with a monthly calendar and weekly calendar, with lots of room to write down significant dates. I even color code items based on whether they are related to work, family, or my children’s school {I volunteer frequently and substitute teach}. I also add notifications to my phone to remind me of important times and dates. And don’t forget to schedule in taking important supplements like Turmeric, which supports antioxidant health*. Antioxidants help fight cell-damaging free radicals in the body, those that can lead to the premature aging of cells, so this can be an important supplement to take*.

Ready to continue the new year on the right path? Head to Publix where you can purchase Sundown® Naturals in the pharmacy section. Be on the lookout for their new look, coming soon! I have about four Publix locations within close proximity of my home, so it’s such a convenient grocery store for all my family’s health and wellness needs!
