Have fun making special treats with your family when you set up this Waffle Ice Cream Sundae Bar!
Now that the kids are older, getting more mature and have their own unique interests, it’s fun to plan specific activities with them individually. Lydia is very interested in the culinary arts and someday plans to take up a Culinary Art Program. She watches baking shows, likes to help me cook, and experiments with different ingredients. Together, we set up a waffle ice cream sundae bar, with fresh strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, two flavors of ice cream {strawberry and vanilla}, chocolate hazelnut spread, Reddi-Wip Extra Creamy Whipped Cream, and Eggo Homestyle Waffles. Learn more about how you can enjoy this special treat with your daughter while watching “Spirit Riding Free” on Netflix.
We began by preparing all of our ingredients. The blueberries and raspberries are ready to go after a quick rinse, and the strawberries were sliced into bite-sized pieces. Meanwhile, we placed the Eggo Homestyle Waffles into the toaster oven for just a few minutes to warm and crisp up. These are a fluffy and delicious addition to any ice cream sundae! We cut the waffles into quarters and allowed them to cool so they wouldn’t melt the ice cream too quickly.
To assemble a waffle ice cream sundae, we placed some berries at the bottom {raspberries are my favorite, but Lydia loves strawberries}. We layered the ingredients parfait-style, with scoops of ice cream, more berries, more ice cream, more berries, and then tucked the waffle wedges into our sundae glasses.
My *favorite* part of any ice cream sundae since I was a child has always been Reddi-wip. Reddi-wip products use the best dairy cream in original flavors and less hydrogenated oils than frozen whipped toppings. And then of course, a drizzle of chocolate-hazelnut spread and some sprinkles on top, and my waffle ice cream sundae was ready to go!
It was now time to eat our delicious treats! It’s so fun to teach Lydia how to cook, but also to get her input on recipes to expand my culinary repertoire. I love when she helps me season dishes in a way I may not have even thought to season them.
Remember how I mentioned spending special time with Lydia? Well, one thing we love doing together beyond cooking is watching our favorite television shows. We could enjoy our recipe together while watching “Spirit Riding Free” on Netflix together. Have you seen “Spirit Riding Free” on Netflix? This show is about a girl named Lucky who lived in a small city in Texas during the 1800s. It shares her adventures as she bonds with a wild stallion and befriends two other girls who also have horses. “Spirit Riding Free” focuses on friendship, loyalty, and female empowerment – great messages to share with your daughter! We printed out some cute coloring sheets to work on together as we enjoyed the delicious waffle ice cream sundaes we made. Check out these fun “Spirit Riding Free” activities.
Head to Walmart where you can purchase all of the ingredients to make your Waffle Ice Cream Sundae Bar! Be sure to grab your favorite variety of Eggo Waffles and Reddi-Wip to enjoy with your daughter while watching “Spirit Riding Free” on Netflix.
