This Festive Springtime Sugar Cookie Pizza recipe is easy to prepare and fun for kids!
This year is about adding quick and easy family-friendly recipes to this blog, like this Festive Springtime Sugar Cookie Pizza. I must admit, my daughter Lydia helped to inspire me. Like me, she loves cooking shows. One of her favorites is a kids’ baking show, and they featured cookie pizzas. I thought this was an absolutely brilliant idea, so why not make a springtime sugar cookie pizza? It’s a fun and simple recipe, and it’s also a great way to get your kids involved in a fun cooking project!
Festive Springtime Sugar Cookie Pizza Ingredients:
- 1 package sugar cookie dough
- 1/2 container cake frosting
- Welch’s Fruit Rolls
- Sprinkles and other small edible decorations
Festive Springtime Sugar Cookie Pizza Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Begin by baking your pre-made sugar cookie dough. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough to about 1/2″ thick. I used the base of a springform pan lined with aluminum to form a 12″ circle. You can also use a pie plate or cake pan – just make sure you grease it so the large circular cookie can be easily removed. Bake for approximately 15 minutes, until the edges are golden. If you need to, trim up the edges to form a perfect circle.
Once the cookie has cooled completely, spread a thin layer of your favorite flavor frosting. You can choose to use white, pink, or yellow to represent spring or go with chocolate to represent the soil. That would make it look more like a spring garden! Have fun with it. We chose vanilla with sprinkles already mixed into the frosting. I let the kids help me spread the frosting with an off-set spatula.
Next, add a layer of green sprinkles to represent the grass. I found these sprinkles that are really thin and actually resemble grass. Regular green sprinkles, nonpareils, or colored sugar would work here as well.
Here’s the fun part! No springtime garden is complete without flowers, right? Using small cookie cutters, cut small flowers from Welch’s Fruit Rolls. Welch’s Fruit Rolls are a great spring break snack, since fruit is the first ingredient and they contain 100% daily value of Vitamin C and 25% daily value of Vitamins A & E. Just “Unroll the fun” and start cutting! This is a great fine motor activity for kids {along with it being a heck of a lot of fun!} We had two different flower shapes: one with small scalloped edges and one with larger petals. The kids did a great job cutting out their flowers.

Now for the final touches! We added our flowers to the springtime sugar cookie pizza. We placed a small yellow sprinkle in the center of each flower. We also added other colorful flower-shaped sprinkles, and it was ready to serve!
My kids were playing in the backyard after they helped me make this Springtime Sugar Cookie Pizza, so I cut up a few slices, and we even shared it with our neighbors behind us. It’s such a fun and festive springtime treat! You can find all the ingredients to make this Springtime Sugar Cookie Pizza, including Welch’s Fruit Rolls, at your local Walmart or Publix store.
