Celebrate the 4th of July with these Patriotic Party Ideas!
I have such fond memories of celebrating 4th of July as a child. We would often celebrate with my neighbors. Hot dogs on the grill, fireworks my dad would light as we stood back and watched with excitement, staying up late with sparklers in our hands. Good times from my childhood! Well, fast-forward almost 30 years, and I try to provide my children with amazing experiences as well. Check out these Patriotic Party Ideas for inspiration!
Patriotic Party Ideas: Tablescape
It’s so easy to get into the holiday spirit with red, white, and blue! American flags, red and white gingham, white stars on blue backgrounds. When planning backyard parties, I like to focus primarily on disposable goods: paper plates, cups, napkins, and straws. For family-style parties, decorations need to be child-friendly. For 4th of July, I went with oversized pinwheels and flags. I like having a variety of heights on my tablescapes. It creates more visual interest! If you plan to take your party from day-to-night {which we often do}, remember to use lanterns, candles, or tiki torches to brighten up your table.
Patriotic Party Ideas: Food
When planning a backyard party for my family, I like the focus to be on the quality time we spend together, so rather than standing in the kitchen all day long preparing food, I try to find easy-to-make recipes and pre-made food. That’s where Sam’s Club can help. I headed there with my family to select a mix of prepared foods and quick-cooking foods. Here’s my shopping list for our 4th of July celebration:
- Ribeye steaks
- Broccoli salad
- Baked Beans with Brisket
- Seedless Watermelon
- Strawberries
- Beverages
- Chocolate chip cookies
Patriotic Party Ideas: Dessert Recipe
After apple pies, when I think of All-American desserts, I always picture chocolate chip cookies and s’mores. Then I thought, why not combine the two into something new? I used the Member’s Mark Chocolate Chip Cookies found with the baked goods. This recipe makes 6 servings.
Chocolate Chip Cookie S’mores
Ingredients:
- 12 Member’s Mark Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 6 large marshmallows
- 6 large squares of milk chocolate
Directions:
Lay 6 of your chocolate chip cookies on a sheet pan. Place a square of chocolate on each cookie and top with a large marshmallow. Turn your oven to broil and place the sheet pan in the oven for 1 – 2 minutes until the chocolate melts and the marshmallow begins to get gooey. Remove from the oven and top with the second cookie to make Chocolate Chip Cookie S’mores. Warning: these are insanely delicious and you will want to eat all of them. Be sure to pin the recipe!
Patriotic Party Ideas: Entertainment
Now it’s time for the fun! My dad always bought wholesale fireworks for our 4th of July celebration. I used to love when my dad lit those fireworks in the middle of our street, and my sister and I could wave our sparklers in the air. Some other fun ideas include beach ball volleyball in the backyard, creating a special 4th of July playlist with some of your family’s favorite music, and turning on the sprinklers for water play for the kids!
These Patriotic Party Ideas are perfect for our 4th of July celebration! Head to Sam’s Club to purchase all off your favorite ingredients and prepared foods. The broccoli salad and baked beans with brisket made great side dishes, and the chocolate chunk cookies from the bakery were just amazing.
