I remember seeing the original Jurassic Park movie in the theater with my dad. I was in 8th grade, I believe, and I was always a fan of anything dinosaur-related. What I have always loved about the movies is that they felt larger than life. The dinosaurs were so big and and strong and powerful. The terrain was rough, covered in prehistoric plants and rock structures. I wanted to recreate that vibe from the Jurassic World movies because we love watching them as a family {I even play the Jurassic World app on my phone}, and I thought it would be so fun to bring all the action to life for my children. Here are my Outdoor Dinosaur Play ideas!

Outdoor Dinosaur Play Materials:

• Multiple Jurassic World dinosaur toys from Walmart
• Large bag of decorative rocks
• Various fern-like plants

 

Outdoor Dinosaur Play Directions:

Begin by gathering all of your materials. I purchased the fern, coleuses, and rocks at my local hardware store. The Jurassic World toys are available at Walmart. Check out all of the different varieties, like the Battle Damage dinosaurs that are ready for any fight and the Jurassic World Jurassic Rex Dinosaur Play Set that is enormous and comes with a multi-level play set, truck, and person.

Plant a variety of “prehistoric” looking plants, such as ferns and coleuses. Add rocks to create a rugged terrain for your dinosaurs to tear through! Set out several different Jurassic World dinosaur toys. Stiggy the stygimoloch is one of my favorite characters from Jurassic World. She’s so cute! Two of the other characters available to purchase at Walmart are the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex and incredibly dangerous Indoraptor, a hybrid made of Tyrannosaurus Rex and Raptor DNA.

When you’ve set up this outdoor dinosaur play space, bring your children outside to surprise them! Imagine setting this all up on Christmas Eve and surprising the children Christmas morning with Jurassic World toys in an interactive place they can explore.

It was so fun to watch my kids play together. They even put on their best dinosaur ATTACK faces! They were definitely ready to battle!

We found other fun activities for the dinosaurs to do in our backyard, like search for prey and drink from the pond. Herbivores can search for plants, berries, and flowers to eat. What an exciting way for your children to enjoy imaginative play outdoors!
