I dedicate three posts in my blog each year, one to each of my three loves: Lydia’s birthday post, Bryce’s birthday post, and a wedding anniversary post. So here I am, writing about Lydia’s 8th birthday tomorrow.
Lydia gives herself wholly in all she does. Even a daily reading task is not good enough unless she completes it 100%. She loves with all her heart, which feels much stronger and mightier than the love most adults 3 or 4 times her age are able to give. She is strong, determined, creative, and just absolutely brilliant. She is the kindest friend, and she accepts everyone from the moment she meets them. Her favorite toys are still baby dolls because of how nurturing she is. She wants to learn how to do just about everything – draw, sew, do science experiments, dance, sing, play games, exercise… there is no end to her desire to grow each day.
So this little girl {who I guess isn’t so little anymore} started at a new school in a new town where she didn’t know a single person and is selected as the first female student of the week: The Top Banana! She already has an awesome group of girlfriends who seem to adore her and invite her for birthday parties and playdates. She is a role model to her peers and is selected to help children with limited English. She reminds me each day that near perfection can exist… and can come in a body that is just 42 pounds. I hope this little girl has the happiest rotation around the sun this year. She deserves to have all her dreams come true.
