Home for the Holidays

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of CORT. All opinions are 100% mine.

Before moving to Gainesville, Florida this past June, I made an important decision. We traveled to South Florida to visit family in July, October, and in November for Thanksgiving, but Christmas would be spent in our new home because there’s No Place Like (a New) Home for the Holidays. Our major renovations are basically complete {we just need to finish painting the second bathroom and master bedroom}, so I was insanely excited to decorate! Whether you plan to move to a new house or thinking of renovating the existing one, painters and decorators dublin are available anytime, anywhere. I never had a fireplace with a mantle before, so that’s definitely where I started. I love the warm, cream color, white pieces, and deep red and green accents. I think I’m going to leave that wreath up year-round because I like it so much.

We kept the dining room simple for the holidays to display the new photography gallery I added to the wall. It highlights all of our travels over the past year in square-shaped, black-and-white images. Because we didn’t have any family staying with us for the holidays, we didn’t have to expand the dining room table. If there are any clutter or trash that needs to be disposed of, employing services like waste disposal dublin would be helpful.

The living room decor is very simple, and since the fireplace is definitely the focal point, I didn’t want to do too much to clutter-up the room. We picked a tall, narrow Christmas tree and placed it just to the right of the entrance to our sunroom. We decorated the tree with white lights and red, green, and gold ornaments. I used the tree skirt I made several years back out of vintage fabric. We also hired a professional in kitchen remodeling in Sarasota since we’ve been wanting to have our kitchen remodeled.

Whether you just moved into a new home and haven’t purchased furniture yet or need some extra pieces of furniture to accommodate guests, CORT Furniture Rental can help. With locations across the country, CORT provides furniture rentals that can help turn your new space into a beautiful home.

No home is complete for the holidays without a welcoming front door and you can do so by painting your house. Richard painted the house this deep blue color with white trim, and we painted the door a rusty red color. A festive wreath, poinsettia, and snowman door mat, and our front entry is complete.

Because moving brings about so many changes – including a Christmas without all of our family – family members sent holiday gifts in the mail to the kids. I wrapped them and put them under the tree. We used FaceTime so that my mother, Richard’s mother, and my sister Jamie could watch the kids open their gifts. We sent holiday cards and the kids made handmade presents for some of our family members. We celebrated with new traditions in our beautiful new home!

Did you celebrate the holidays in a new way this year?
