I want to highlight some of the great child-friendly places we visited on our trip. The first is Explorium of Lexington, a fun children’s art and science museum located downtown. It has two levels with several different types of hands-on activities for infants through maybe about 8 or 10 years-old, depending upon your child’s interests.
Upstairs, the children explored the surface of the moon. This was pretty cool because our current thematic unit is Outer Space.
There was a big dinosaur dig along with other dinosaur-related play and educational materials.
And a room for arts & crafts. Lydia made a project for her dad for Father’s Day. Downstairs, they had several areas Lydia really liked. The first one was decorated like a barn with life-size horses they could groom and pretend to ride.
The next area was water play. The kids both loved it!
Then came Lydia’s favorite sections: veterinarian and pediatrician. She just loves playing doctor! These sections gave me a lot of ideas for our upcoming Body unit.
They also had an infant and toddler area with water play, books, and lots of fun toys.
The kids spent hours at the Explorium of Lexington and really had a great time! The museum has simple, interactive exhibits that engage children in fun, hands-on learning experiences.
Any Comments?
